Sphinx Studio started with a car dealership shot for free. The client was Carfolia, a car wrapping shop in Sibiu, and the deal was simple: we film, we learn, nobody pays. Years later we are the photography team behind three editions of the Audi Quattro Cup with Audi Romania and an eight-month content contract with Autoworld, the Audi dealership in Cluj.
We are three people, not an agency with rotating juniors. Edy, the founder, shoots every project himself, so the same eye that photographed rally cars in Dubai is the one framing your showroom shot. Every session is planned around the specific car, not a fixed template.

We start with a short conversation about the car: what feeling you want the images to carry (power, elegance, speed, ruggedness) and where the photos will be used. Location follows the car, not the other way around — a city hatchback needs an urban backdrop, an off-road SUV wants rough terrain, a supercar wants a clean, minimal background that does not compete for attention. Time of day matters as much as location: golden hour, the first hour after sunrise and the last before sunset, gives soft directional light that shows the bodywork without harsh reflections, while midday sun creates hard shadows that are difficult to fix later. How to Prepare Your Car for a Shoot
The most common regret is an unwashed car — dust and streaks show up far more clearly in photos than to the naked eye, especially under side lighting. A full wash, including wheels and glass, plus a quick pass of wax or sealant for shine, makes the difference between a good shot and a great one. If the car has fresh wrap or PPF applied, leave at least 24-48 hours before the shoot so the adhesive settles and no bubbles show. Clear personal items from the interior if you want dashboard or seat shots, and check tire pressure, since a car sitting slightly low on one side is immediately visible in a profile shot. For outdoor sessions, check the forecast a day ahead; uniform overcast skies are surprisingly friendly for automotive work, while patchy sun creates inconsistent light between shots.
