Food Photography Sibiu
Specialized food and restaurant photography for restaurants, cafes and hospitality businesses in Sibiu.
A badly lit plate stays unswiped on every platform. We photograph dishes, menus and restaurant atmosphere for hospitality businesses in Sibiu, with food styling included and professional lighting.
We have shot for Meat Masters, Dabo Donner, Jar's Steak & Grill and RabbitHole, four venues with four completely different styles, because a steakhouse and a patisserie are never lit the same way.
What a Food Photography Session Looks Like
We arrive before opening or between services, so the kitchen can prepare each dish exactly in the rhythm of the shoot, freshly cooked food looks completely different from something that has sat on the counter for 20 minutes. We agree on a priority dish list in advance and order the shoot so anything that degrades quickly (ice cream, steaming dishes, drinks with ice) gets prepared last, right before the shot. For each plate we adjust positioning, add or remove garnish for visual balance, and choose the angle: top-down for flat, colorful plates, 45 degrees for dishes with height (burgers, layered desserts). After dishes, we move to atmosphere shots: interior, bar, decor details, natural service moments.

How to Prepare for the Shoot
Send us the menu in advance so we can agree which dishes are priorities, usually your best sellers and the ones with the strongest visual impact. Prepare the actual plates and dishware you use in service; consistency with what a customer sees at the table matters for trust. If you already have a visual style on social media (colors, lighting, composition), send a few examples so we can stay consistent. For drinks and cocktails, decide in advance whether you want real ice, which melts fast under lights, or a stand-in for photography. Schedule the shoot so the kitchen can prepare each dish right before its shot, not far ahead of time.
Styles and Trends in Food Photography
Natural, side-lit photography has replaced the heavily artificial lighting of the past, dishes look more appetizing and authentic under soft window light than under direct flash. Minimalist composition, with generous negative space around the plate, is preferred over cluttered props. Process photography, hands cooking, steam, ingredient texture, is gaining ground on social media because it adds sensory appeal beyond the finished dish. For venues with strong visual identity, the photography's color palette consistently follows the brand's colors, not just the food's natural tones.
Food Photography That Turns Scrolling Into Bookings
We shoot quickly and discreetly, usually before opening or between services, so we never disrupt your customers. We adapt food styling and lighting to each venue's visual identity, so the images feel like part of the brand rather than a generic food photo set.
What You Actually Receive
Standard delivery includes edited images, color and light corrected, ready for both social media and a digital or printed menu. We organize images by category, dishes, drinks, atmosphere, so your social media team can find relevant content quickly for each post. If you also ordered short video content, it is delivered separately, in vertical format for Reels and Stories. Images arrive through a private link, in resolution ready for any use, from an Instagram story to a large-format printed menu.
Common Mistakes in Food Photography
The most common mistake is over-garnishing, which hides the actual dish instead of highlighting it. The second is direct overhead flash, which flattens texture and creates harsh reflections on sauces or glazes. The third is shooting cold or wilted food, a salad that has sat too long or a cold steak loses exactly the texture that makes food look appetizing. Finally, brightly patterned plates compete visually with the food instead of showcasing it; simple, usually white or matte plates let the dish stay the subject of the frame.
Venues We Have Worked With
From our hospitality portfolio:
Do dishes need special preparation?
We recommend dishes prepared fresh right before each shot. We share food styling guidance in advance so the kitchen knows exactly what to prep.
Do you shoot during business hours?
We prefer sessions before opening or between services, so your customers' experience is never affected.
How many dishes per session?
It depends on session length; we agree on a priority list from your menu together.
Do you bring props, or should we?
We bring basic props (backgrounds, textiles, utensils), but we prefer using the venue's own dishware for consistency with the real dining experience.
Do you also shoot video content, not just photos?
Yes, we offer short-form video/reels for social media, either as an add-on or standalone.
How do you handle fast-degrading items like ice cream or ice?
We schedule them last in the session and prepare them right before the shot, so texture and appearance stay intact.
